Overview

Nitro League set out to serve three audiences with one product: gamers, NFT collectors and investors. The product is a decentralised play-to-earn (P2E) racing game powered by upgradeable NFTs and the Nitro token.

The platform brings several experiences together:

  • an NFT marketplace
  • simulation racing
  • a 3D garage where the community collaborates
  • a metaverse where users buy and sell properties, production factories and garages

Scope of work: idea to product, conceptualisation, art direction, sketching and modeling, MVP launch plan, game and website design, and post-launch enhancements.

The challenge

Nitro League came to us when most people were still unfamiliar with crypto and blockchain. Investors doubted whether crypto products were authentic, and whether they would return anything on their money. At the same time, the NFT-collector and gamer communities were growing quickly. The racing experience had to earn trust and stand out in a market that was changing fast.

Our approach

We designed the product around its users, from the first idea through to go-to-market. The work covered four experiences.

A 2D simulation game

The core racing loop was designed as a 2D simulation that players can pick up straight away.

An immersive 3D garage

In the garage, players inspect, upgrade and show off their cars. It is also where the community gathers.

A lineup of race-ready cars

Each car was designed in detail so it reads as a collectible, not just a game asset.

Marketing website and NFT marketplace

The website explains the game, the roadmap, the whitepaper and the tokenomics, and it leads players and investors into the marketplace.

The solution

We started with product discovery and stakeholder interviews. From these we mapped the user flows and wrote a detailed whitepaper. Branding workshops set a bold visual identity. CG artists visualised the gameplay, and design thinking shaped the garage and the website. Professional gamers validated the result.

  • Funding: the launch on this platform brought in investment.
  • Awareness: strategic NFT sales spread the word about the game.
  • Upgradeable NFTs: the NFTs came with 3D and AR/VR visuals.

“The designers who did our research were the same ones who stayed through engineering and launch. That is the only reason the design survived contact with development.”
